- Serves as communication medium to keep our members informed on the actions of our Exco.
- Allows our members to express their views on the state of cardiology service in SA.
- Contains information on relevant academic meetings / congresses / courses.
- Can be used as medium to report back on such meetings / congresses
- Contains information on scholarships and awards being offered by SA Heart.
- Is available for colleagues to informs the cardiology community of activities, etc in their regions, specialities.
- Appears 4-5 times per year as an insert to the SA Heart journal.
The SA Heart Newsletter probably did not excel in its mission:
- Only a few colleagues contributed to the content of the newsletter
- Our colleagues do not see this as a discussion forum or are not prepared to put their opinions on paper
- I have not received a single written comment or complaint re the newsletter
- I also did not receive a single written proposal / suggestion as to how to improve the value of the newsletter.
I believe the newspaper serves a necessary purpose – it should continue to appear.
I need your input, comment, contributions, time, availability and loyalty to SA Heart to improve on the newsletter.
Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the SA Heart Congress and AGM in Cape Town.
